Digitata Networks’ Insight & Enhance services recently delivered end-to-end network visibility to a major operator in a highly congested region of Cameroon that enabled major optimization gains for one of their busiest cities.
Using the existing PM and CM data, Digitata Networks applied AI-assisted analytics to correlate thousands of configuration objects with real network performance, detect non-obvious patterns across layers, carriers and clusters, and identify inefficiencies that remain invisible to traditional, threshold-based KPI monitoring. Within weeks, the operator obtained actionable network intelligence that enabled confident optimization decisions, rather than static reports or isolated metrics. Rather than delivering raw data or static reports, Insight transformed correlated PM and CM information into a structured network health assessment focused on the operator’s most critical problem area.

What We Found: A selection from this operator’s comprehensive report that demonstrates some of the most impactful changes that Digitata Networks recommended to be implemented into our customer’s network.
- Hidden Power Headroom: We identified 364 Remote Radio Units (RRUs) that had available power headroom (averaging ~24 Watts per RRU) that was not being utilized, which was hidden before Digitata Networks enabled visibility with Insight. By simply aligning logical power configurations with the actual hardware capabilities, the operator could boost capacity on high-demand layers, improving spectral efficiency without deploying additional radio equipment while maintaining strict control over where power increases were technically safe.
- Holistic Detection of Silent Access and Identity Conflicts: Insight uncovered a large number of silent access-layer conflicts, including more than 2,700 RSI-related contention scenarios and ~900 PCI conflicts, many occurring within close geographic proximity. These conflicts were not isolated configuration errors, but the result of cumulative interactions between RSI/Ncs planning, effective cell radius, overshooting behavior, and parameter configuration as the network evolved over time. The resulting interference conditions directly degraded Random Access performance and handover stability, driving access failures and drops without presenting clear symptoms in traditional KPI monitoring. Only through holistic, cross-layer correlation, linking RF coverage behavior, access configuration, and mobility performance, could these conflicts be reliably identified and resolved through structured replanning rather than reactive tuning.
- Multi-Layer Traffic Imbalance and Spectral Utilization Optimization: Insight revealed a systematic imbalance in multi-carrier traffic distribution, where mid-band FDD layers at 1800 and 2100 MHz operated in a congestion-driven regime while high-capacity 2600 MHz TDD layers remained significantly underutilized. As a first step, coverage dominance and effective carrier footprints were validated to ensure that radio conditions and layer overlap were consistent with the intended design. Building on this validated coverage baseline, PM and CM data were then jointly analyzed to assess traffic distribution and per-layer spectral efficiency. This enabled the identification of targeted Idle Mode and Connected Mode steering parameter adjustments to dynamically redistribute load, relieving congestion and improving overall spectral utilization.
- Advanced Overshooting Detection via Geometric and RF-Aware Correlation: Overshooting cells were identified through RF-aware geometric correlation between serving sites and neighboring cells, combining inter-site relationships, relative antenna heights, and terrain-aware propagation effects to estimate the effective dominance footprint of each cell. This approach enables precise detection of overshooting behavior without relying on computationally intensive propagation simulations or exhaustive analysis of raw Measurement Reports. By focusing on scalable, AI-assisted correlation of topology, configuration, and performance data, Insight isolates interference-driven overshooting conditions efficiently and translates them into actionable mitigation through electrical tilt and radiation pattern optimization—without mechanical changes or site interventions.
At the conclusion of the Insight phase, Digitata Networks delivered confidence and control with the resultant end-to-end network visibility. Our customer was able to clearly see what changes to make in the network, what not to touch, and what data supported those findings. Instead of relying on reactive CAPEX, the operator can now make informed decisions based on actual network function.
Enhance: A Roadmap to Double-Digit Gains
By translating Insight’s findings into an executable Enhance roadmap, we showcased immediate, quantifiable wins that the operator could immediately implement based on correlated CM/PM patterns and observed network behavior, not on generic assumptions or theorizing.
